Sea Kayaking trips

Our guided double sea kayaking trip explores the beautiful surroundings of Raet national park

The tour starts at the Beach house at Hove on Tromøya.  Guests will be equipped with protective clothing and be given a safety talk and tour description before entering the water.  Once on the water, the guide will demonstrate paddle techniques and allow time for practice prior to beginning the trip. The kayak tour takes in the beautiful Raet national park and heads southwest to the islands of Gjessøya and Merdø. On route, the guide will explain the history of the islands and point out various points of interest.  As we paddle in the sheltered waters of the archipelago we pass St Helena island and Badeholmen before entering the pretty sandy bay at Gjessholmen.  trips can also paddle to the historic Merdø for lunch or a visit of the museum.  The area is abundant in maritime life and offers unspoiled nature and clear waters.   This is a stunning kayak trip that is ideal for beginners and offers some of the best of the Southern Norwegian Skerries. 

Length of tour: 5 – 10 km depending on the route and weather conditions.

Time: 3 – 4 hours.

Equipment provided: Double sea kayak, dry cag, spraydeck, paddle, dry bags for spare clothes,

Group equipment: First aid kit, mobile telephone, emergency flares.

Previous experience: The tour is suitable for beginners. Sea kayaking can be strenuous and involves paddling for 2 to 3 hours in open water. Participants should be able to swim and be in good physical health.

Minimum age: 12 years

Equipment guests should bring: Jogging shoes, swimsuit, wool underclothes, towel.
